Phoenixal, also called Fenikaen, refers to those who had past lives that they've left, and were reborn again into this one. A phoenixal person might also believe that this process has happened many times before, and / or will continue in the future. An example is someone who was a deer in a past life, and was then reborn again into this one.
Why someone is phoenixal, or how they experience their past selves, can vary from individual to individual, depending on personal beliefs, practices, and experiences. It’s generally considered to be under the alterhuman umbrella, but you don’t have to use that term in order to use this one.
Someone's phoenixal identity can be called a fenitype, or fenlife if you prefer. How much someone still identifies with their fenitype can vary among different users. Some phoenixal people might, for instance, still be actively connected to their fenitype. In those cases, they might consider themselves otherkin, otherhearted, or something similar. For others, they might still consider it an important part of themselves, but don’t really identify as it anymore. In those cases, it could be considered a kardiatype.
Since the term’s coining, there have been a few additional labels created that are tied to this one. For instance, the prefix ekyn- has been used for personal identities that are directly tied to it. Examples include ekynamor and ekyngender.
