Aldernic

Aldernic is an umbrella term for people who have, or want to have, a body that deviates from what they currently have in some way. It can be seen as a broad identity label that exclusively pertains to your body. An Aldernic identity is called an alder / aldern.

The term is used in multiple different communities, but it isn't exclusive to any of them. There's a very wide range of how aldernity might be experienced, or in what way. Having a specific aldern doesn't mean you must have a matching identity of another kind, like a specific gender.

Someone can be aldernic for any reason, and it can either apply to your entire body, or just certain parts of it.

The term is not associated with transid, and is not inclusive of transrace or transabled for obvious reasons. In general, don't use this term to claim the experiences or identity of minority groups.

Examples of being aldernic:

• Desiring a body different from the one you have.
• Having an "internal body" that is different from your external one. Common with system members and otherkin.
• Perceiving your body as being different, or having different features, such as with phantom limbs.
• Etc.
