i love knowing how to do tumblr backups (not the built-in ones, those suck) and because it’s all through public tumblr api you can do any blog you want. archives are so easy, i never have to worry about losing anything anymore
asking for posterity's sake: are saphe and vesbian synonyms?
if going by the original definition, they seem to be. both appear to mean “being a lesbian but in a nonbinary / genderqueer / etc. way.” the only main difference i can see is that vesbian was made to fit in with terms like gai and strayt, as an equivalent for lesbians. but like, that’s mostly just semantics and has nothing to do with any kind of actual different experience between the two. i don’t really feel entirely comfortable saying “my term and someone else’s term are synonyms!” without the other coiner also having a say on it, though. i’m also slightly confused on the fact that their term does seem to come from “sapphic,” but only describes it as being for lesbians. but you’d have to ask them about that for more clarity, not me!
Allyship is something to be rigorously and actively done. It is not passive, it is a deep responsibility. If you wish to be an ally to poc, you cannot simply say you respect us, or perform lip service of “racism bad”. You must truly platform our perspective. You must challenge all of your inner and outward racist inclinations, regardless of whether you believe yourself to be racist. You must analyze all of racism’s manifestations in all parts of society, and how it morphs in different contexts between different groups. You must study Black, Latino, Asian activism, and so on.
If you wish to be a trans ally, you cannot simply say “trans women are women” or dump your unwanted clothes onto us. You must study and understand transfeminism. You must materially assist the trans people around you. You must not throw a pity party for yourself if a trans person finds you unhelpful. You must engage in thorough political praxis.
Activism is a willed effort. A difficult, persistent effort. If you do not do these things, you are complacent, lazy, and wasting our time by calling yourself an “ally”. This is the collective responsibility of all human beings.
vesbian is specifically for Lesbians, not every single variant of sapphic. and you don’t have to use gai to be vesbian either. i hate lgbtq+ wikis bro i swearrrrrrr
wait it gets even worse
the original definition of saphe is also specifically a lesbian term. which yeah i get that’s confusing but the “sapphic” part was literally just added in by the wiki when it’s not a part of the actual term itself
did i mention these wikis are just like. ridiculously unreliable when it comes to getting definitions. they will straight up lie and recoin people’s shit without the coiner’s permission 💀 they neeeeever learn
this is also how we got people thinking vincian is a gay-only term when it’s not and was a replacement for achillean. i hate how much power these shittily-run wikis have over people’s first impression of terms and their history / usage
i think we need a wiki that basically just uses its database to link to coining posts themselves or something, instead of letting random strangers define them. or at least maybe some better moderation to make sure people aren’t just editing the terms to mean something else? it causes so much mislabelling and other bullshit. throwback to that time that aporagender term thing got mislabelled as xenic for months and they refused to fix it (or let the coiner fix it, they literally locked the page because they thought they knew better than the coiner) until a bunch of people threw an actual fit about it online (me included) to get their attention lol

Trey Reed was found yesterday hanging from a tree in Mississippi. The police are saying there was “no foul play”, but anyone with half a brain knows what this really is. This was a young black man who was lynched this week in America. A thousand articles on Charlie Kirk, and yet I have heard nothing but radio silence about Trey Reed. I only learned about it when a video popped up on my social media. Think about the implications of this: this is a modern day lynching, a hate crime, and a conservative white man is getting all of the press while Reed gets nothing. Liberals and conservatives alike are mourning Kirk, but where are the people speaking out against Reed’s murder?
If anyone still thinks we don’t still have a massive racism problem is this country, it’s time to wake up. The sad thing is, I think most people know that, it’s just that so many people do not care.
I know I don’t have much reach here, but I haven’t seen a single thing about this man, and this atrocity cannot just be forgotten, lost under the articles of Charlie Kirk and whatever Trump is doing.
Justice for Trey Reed. I don’t know what else to say. Speak out about this, don’t let him be forgotten.
been looking through some of your old terms and i was wondering - is it okay for me to call navicoric something else (naviaesic maybe) to avoid misusing coric?
i actually already changed it to navichoric at one point, because it’s a kenochoric gender anyways, and an easy fix. i don’t think -aesic would work for it since it’s not an aesthetigender (if i understand that suffix right?) so using the new term is probably the way to go.
here is the archived (and updated) coining post i made with its proper name, if you want/need it
not strictly an aesthetigender anyways. aesthetics can be an aspect of it, but it’s generally just. a gender related to house of leaves that MAY be related to the themes / characters / aesthetics / and so on… so unfortunately, using “naviaesic” would be just as much of a suffix-misuse as “navicoric” was
annoyingly, i really did not understand what coric meant when i very first started coining genders back in 2020, but thankfully i think i went back and fixed them all over time (i remember doing this for oddcoric too)

I think it would be fine to make an actual post for nilauto tbh! So long as you have credit on it
when things get recognition, you lose control over what happens. even if i included direct credit to the term it’s based on, after so many reposts, possible posts on wikis and other sites, through the game of telephone it could lose that credit extremely fast. i’ve seen it happen to other people, so i feel like it’d be in very poor taste to do when the term is so derivative of something else. yes, the term is really useful for me. yes, it might be useful for others- that’s why i bother posting about it at all (besides just having a place to talk about it.) but i would implode in on myself if it ended up getting too much traction and all those fears i mentioned came true. i would feel horrible forever and then melt and simmer like an egg on a hotplate. so i keep it all untagged and on the down-low so it stays small, and never even remotely comes close to “well-known.” since. you know. it’s mostly just for me, anyways.
it’s possible i’m being waaaaaay too paranoid about it. and that it’s totally fine to do with credit. i do have very, very bad paranoia and moral ocd. but i’d rather be safe (and respectful) than sorry down the line.
LESBIAN (lez’ bē ən), n., adj. (The letter “L”) The right “L” hand is held palm facing the body, index finger pointing left. In this position the hand is placed against the chin.
made a flag for a term i’m going to call nilautive, for system members who are nilauto. on its own it might seem contradictory or hard to understand, but i think there’s multiple ways it could work.
being someone who perceives their sense of self fluidly between the two, possibly because of dissociation.
a system member who is nilauto whenever fronting. they might not be aware of, and/or be able to perceive, the system at all, and this might carry over to how they experience themselves within headspace or co-front too.
being a system member who is somewhere on the nilauto spectrum, in a way where they are capable of perceiving both at the same time- though it may be very paradoxical, or dulled.
i’m sure other people could have plenty more experiences like these.
once again, nilauto is a very personal term for me and my system, and it’s heavily based on a different term so we don’t feel very comfortable promoting it. if you wanna use it, you can.
this also isn’t a term to describe an entire system, instead being for specific members. i might make that later, though.
are you going to eventually repost all of your old stuff?
Oh god, I highly doubt she’d be able to do that! Honestly, I don’t think anybody in our system is up for the task of re-posting everything in their own remade posts.
But I think our host said she would like to repost a good deal of her old stuff. Mainly the stuff she wants around again- if she sees it, and was like “oh yeah that was cool,” she might make a new post for it eventually. It is not on a schedule, she isn’t exactly bustling to make it happen or anything- it’s more of a “oh I just saw that and I want it to have a live link again, so I’m gonna do that now!” sporadic type of thing!
You can always ask her to repost something, too! I won’t guarantee that she absolutely will, but I think in 99% of cases she would have no issue with it. : )
Since I am on this blog I might as well mention that our host gets soooo damn happy when she sees people still using concepts or umbrellas or uh, anything she ever made in her entire life! He loves to see new kenochoric-related posts, new gendership terms for some obscure pairing he’s never heard of, it’s all so awesome! : O
my new gender term. it’s called mirarel, or mirarigender. you can also just call it gender mirroring or mirrored gender, and it’s meant to be a parallel to mirrored pronouns. this term is for when you are the same gender as whoever is talking to or about you. it’s similar to things like mirrorgender, but in this instance, you don’t change based on the people around you in a given moment, or based on any specific type of relationship. you simply are the same gender as whichever person is talking to or about you in any given moment, regardless of where you are, or if they even know you. it’s pretty much the same as mirrored pronouns, but with gender instead.
like with mirrored pronouns, the experience could be more fuzzy or more clear. with fuzzy mirroring, you match the general, broad characteristics of whoever is talking to / about you; if someone who is genderspace is referring to you, you might just be generally “nonbinary” or “some space-related gender,” for instance. with clear mirroring, the match is exact. if someone who is genderspace is referring to you, you are also genderspace. i think there could also be odd mirroring, where you always match the gender as the person talking to / about you, but your presentation or other characteristics are always different, and other things like that.
the name comes from the latin word mirari (“to wonder at; admire.”)
like with other matching genders, pangender, etc., this won’t apply to mirroring genders that you literally can’t experience, like culture-specific genders, neurogenders that don’t apply to you, and that kind of thing. in those instances, a user might be obscurian, neutral, or entirely agender.
[Sidenote: This is not the coining post, but it will go into more detail than the original since it’s newer. See the original here.]
Obscurian is an umbrella term for genders (and sometimes other identities) that are unable to be named, quantified, understood, explained, comprehended, and/or determined. More broadly, it may define a vague, unknowable, or unexplainable experience, among other things. Obscurian experiences might just be ones that are unable to be named, quantified, etc., but it can also include things connected to more metaphorical concepts that cause obscurity, like fog or darkness.
Obscurian is not the same as questioning. It may be used as an umbrella for other labels, or as a stand-alone identity of its own.
It is an umbrella term, and as such can describe a very wide variety of experiences and terms. It isn’t a xenogender, but it does fall under kenochoric.
The flag
The flag was never originally discussed or described, but some history will be explained here, as the original coiner.
The original flag (with 5 stripes) was meant to represent things that could distort one’s vision or understanding of something, which is why it used dark and “creepy” colors. I also used purple since it’s kenochoric. The new flag had been designed since some people didn’t like the old one or thought it was unoriginal, so this has a different meaning.
The new flag was made with the idea of the black representing no knowledge, to the light yellow representing near infinite knowledge. This is because both extremes will cause someone to be unable to understand, quantify, name, explain, etc. what’s happening in front of them. I preferred it since it seemed more inclusive of different ways something might become incomprehensible or unexplained.
Sublabels
Obscurian has a few coined subterms. Some are new to this post. Ones that aren’t will be linked on their titles.
Obscurique: A gender that may feel strong, stable, and prominent when left unlabeled, but becomes distorted, unstable, non-existent, and/or changing when attempting to label or define it
Inscurian: When someone is obscurian because they’re intersex.
Antanaver: A gender that represents the desire to be acknowledged, but cannot be, or does not want to be, perceived. It only shows as a mirror of the truth, rather than true reality.
Gendercipher: A gender related to ciphers, cryptology, and/or secret codes. Only sometimes counts as obscurian.
Valeogender: A gender that grows and develops over time, rather than changing. Considered obscurian since you don’t really know where it’s going to go next.
i fully encourage aspecs to celebrate any attraction we do feel. that said we shouldn’t be framing the act as “making up” for the ones we don’t feel. we’re meant to be fighting the notion that feeling attraction or performing the related acts is what makes us human
do you think a day will come when coining blogs realize that making their coining posts as inaccessible and overly “aesthetic” as possible, and then also throwing so many IDs on it that you can’t even tell what’s going on, does not fix the fact that the post is inaccessible- to the point of it being practically unreadable- even for people who aren’t visually impaired, let alone people who are?
I really like the idea of making a spectrum of selfhood that goes in the other direction from plurality, having less "self" than a singlet instead of more. I think that could be used in a way to describe a bunch of different experiences linked together in the same way plurality is, like with how plurality has many variations and forms and can come from different things like CDDs, nilauto can be the same. But above all else I'm just so happy someone knows about self-disorders 😭
i have some pretty good friends who are schizospec, that’s how i know about self disorders! i always found it relatable to me in a lot of ways, even though i don’t think i’m schizospec (stpd is possible, but like, i don’t think i could know that without at the very least way more serious study, or finally going to a fucking doctor like i’m so scared to do)
but yesss this is what i want to achieve, at least for my own system. idk if it’d be useful for too many other people but it’s really useful for me and that’s what matters :3
I “made” a term- sort of- called nilauto, but because it’s so heavily based on another term (autnil) I don’t really feel comfortable saying I coined something, and I worry that spreading it at all in some kind of “official Tumblr post” capacity would cause that, even if I put a disclaimer. For me, autnil didn’t quite fit, and I wanted nilauto to be a sort of spectrum in the same way plurality is… but it is still broadly very similar in concept and etymology. So, I just threw it onto a Rentry for the time being? You can look at it, if you want
The Scots and Welsh are British, yes. I do wonder if they prefer not to be called that, though. I don't know their history but I feel like they're only technically British because of colonialism, and maybe they'd prefer to have their own identity in different circumstances.
yeah i feel like regardless of technicalities, in my brain scottish is just scottish and welsh is just welsh. i’d never like, consciously refer to them as british. and obviously irish is just irish but i was never confused on that one
sometimes i remember a cool thing i made and just go “yeah i want that back” and repost it. don’t mind me remembering how hard vesbian fucked
like i don’t necessarily like every single thing i ever made anymore, nor do i consider myself to be mogai (i’m queer and lgbtq+ and whatever, community-wise) but i can’t deny some of it really was bangertown and i want them to have active links again
okay so uh. here’s a thing i made, it’s called vesbian. it’s an equivalent to the word “gai,” for those who are lesbians, but in a nonbinary (+ genderqueer, binaryweird, etc…) way.
there’s already the terms gai and strayt to have this for general gay / straight experiences with nonbinary and genderqueer people, so i wanted to make one that was specific to lesbianism and those adjacent to it. while lesbians have always been included under gai too, some people might prefer the more specific word, just like how lesbians have always been included in “gay,” but also have their own word. gai is also just fantastic shorthand and has been for a while, and vesbian can serve the same purpose for nonbinary lesbians and similar groups.
in my mind, the term is pronounced like “vehss-bee-an,” as opposed to lesbian being “lehzz-bee-an” because it reminds me a lot of the word “vesper,” but i don’t care at all how other people prefer to say it. the flag is inspired by the gai flag, but i wanted to have a mix of blues and orange / red.
[this is a repost of my own term, i want it to have an active link again.]
you know, black people and trans people especially, don’t have to feel sympathetic towards people who want us dead. I’m tired of the moral high ground “being the bigger person” shit only matters when we are unsympathetic towards our oppressors.
the way people used to use tone tags in 2020 makes me laugh in retrospect because in what world would you need to tag “good morning” as nonsexual. hi friend! /gen /pos /srs /nsx /hello /smiling /happy
something sinister is going down in the nearest beautiful mountain stream
Hi! I know that translunar is for someone who transitions into being a feminine and/or woman identity, my question is if there ever was a word for transitioning into being a woman specifically? I know there’s transsolar but I’m talking about in general and not with masculinity. I really thought there was one that was in the same vein as translunar, transtidal, transspring, etc. I really thought I saw one years ago and was wondering if you, and maybe some of your followers, would know if there was one because maybe I didn’t look well enough. Thanks if you can!!
I looked around and didn’t find anything, unfortunately. I think it would be helpful to have a term for transitioning into being a woman that was separated from femininity.
Does anyone have any information? I’m sure someone has compiled these terms (translunar/solar/tidal/floral/spring/summer/meadow) all into one post, right?
- 💙💚
maybe @amatopunk would be interested in coining this?
I like when a video game fan song comes on but you don’t know it yet because the lyrics are just about a tragic loss or the darkness in your heart or something but then it hits you with a sick line “you must find the final cube” or “theyll never beat my poison blast”
god i’ve been wondering where this term is that filled such a useful niche but i have no idea what it’s called / where it is anymore. it was like. the opposite direction of being plural, almost. instead of having one state of self / being, or multiple, you had none at all. zero. i can’t explain it very well like the post did at the time but god where is it
i swear it was called something like “autinull” and there was arguing over whether or not it was a good term because it sounded like it was referring to autism when it wasn’t. but i cannot find it ANYWHEEEERE. i might need to make my own version. FML
no, it’s super unregulated right now and is privy to fucking over the environment and especially workers in a lot of different industries {especially in various creative fields, but not exclusively them.} it’s also a massive gimmick that, in reality, is basically just a cleverbot that people take as an actual reliable source this time, which is fucked up. that could change over time, but still. it’s web 3.0 and crypto all over again, in how it’s being overhyped like crazy and thrown into every new product as a buzzword.
i don’t care about whether it’s Real Art With a Soul, i care about its tangible impact on people who are being fired from jobs that are being thoughtlessly replaced with ai, entire fields being told they’re about to be obsolete because of ai, environmental impacts, etc… this is all happening because it isn’t being regulated whatsoever, working people have zero protections to keep them safe from this kind of thing fucking them over, and it’s being allowed to run wild by a bunch of rich people who already benefit from paying you as little as humanly possible. now they might not need to pay you at all, and they love that!
trans bears are literally stronger than any US marine
How on earth would they be able to tell that a bear is trans. I’m not saying they can’t be but how would they communicate that.
:/
this is so fucking funny
update:
we the jury find the defendant not guilty your honor
In like 1998 my very femme lesbian friend went to Pride in London and was all excited at the “teddy bears picnic” happening in one of the city parks. She took along a picnic hamper and her cuddly teddy bear. Needless to say, the large hairy gay men all thought she was adorable and she had a great time
I love you Black lesbians. love you Native and Indigenous lesbians. many kisses for my Hispanic and Latino lesbians. lots of love for every Asian lesbian out there. i love every lesbian poc you’re all amazing and deserve to be acknowledged this lesbian week of visibility<3
this post is going around again (yay) but I noticed a terf reblogged it. so I’m coming back to say I LOVE YOU TRANS LESBIANS OF COLOR YOU ARE SO INCREDIBLE AND I HOPE YOU HAVE THE BEST LESBIAN VISIBILITY WEEK OF ALL TIME!!!!

i don’t know if i have a favorite genre, but one of my guiltiest pleasures is nu-metal. i’d say (sic) by slipknot is a really good introductory song that leans way heavier on the “metal” part than the hip-hop part (but is still incredibly fucking groovy, oh my lord.)
